Write For Us

We are approached by writers and photographers several times a week about writing for Light Stalking so we thought we would put up some information about how we select what goes on the front page.

Why Write for Light Stalking?

Whatever you write on Light Stalking, it will get seen. A lot. We get about 250,000 unique visitors a month, have 285,000 Twitter followers, 19,000 Facebook fans and 3,400 members. Our content appears in Flipboard (iPad app of the year for 2010) and has been linked to from Digital Photography School, Adobe Photoshop’s Facebook and Twitter pages and Scott Kelby (Publisher of Photoshop User Magazine) among hundreds of others.

All writers are entitled to a byline with links to their website, blog and social media accounts.

Additionally, folks who help us out go to the head of the line when we’re looking for cool sites to Tweet about.

A Note on What We Accept

We are looking to work with photographers of any level who have something interesting to say about photography. The articles we choose to run will have the following characteristics:

  • original to Light Stalking
  • a catchy title
  • an interesting introduction (2 – 4 sentences)
  • one clearly defined idea per paragraph
  • at least 2 images (that we are permitted to use)
  • be between 500 and 1200 words

The Process of Submitting Something

Light Stalking runs on common blogging software and is easy to use.

1) Register your account (in the right collumn)
2) Go to http://www.lightstalking.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
3) Follow the prompts to write an article.
4) Hit submit

Please use minimal formatting. Your article will be edited and reformatted so you would be wasting your time anyway.

If you’re still keen to seeing your stuff on Light Stalking, but have some questions then drop us an email. (info at lightstalking.com)

I followed the directions on how to setup an account and submit an article, but it won’t allow to me to get the page to post an article. It says I have insufficient access to see the wp-admin/post-new.php page. My username is “moegly” and I registered under nicholas@moeglydesign.com. What do you recommend as far as submitting an article?

    Thanks for your time,
    Nicholas

Happy to provide informative articles and ‘how to’ situations with photographic illustration. Have had photography as both a hobby and commissioned for many years now and would be happy to submit if desired.
