Tobie I’m glad there was something to work with where I was shooting this tree was just in the right spot. I thought it may be in the way but it worked out real well.

Hi, @silverbells, your moon is so sharp and clear, is that the lens, pp, or both?

@tersha what settings did you use? If you don’t mind me asking. I found with my set up f8 iso 100 then set shutter speed from there gave me the best results. I have a few shots at f5.6 & f29 and a few stops in between that I found were just not quite good enough.

@silverbells, Wow on your last post, the craters are amazing!

My settings were..ISO 200, 1/640s, f/5.6, using a Canon 70-300mm lens. I’ll try again when possible and try the settings you used, and variations.

Mine’s not a full moon but wanted to jump in! I always take shots of the moon. It’s like my nightly ritual, even have some of the moon during the day too.

Cool, When it happens I want to shoot a very bright little slither of the moon and see how it goes. I think it will have to be very clear. Anyway another experiment.

I was lucky, it was a bit hazy and I just got a few shots before the clouds came over.

@tersha Bit of both I think. I got another one last night showing the other side in more detail. The craters are very noticeable on this shot.

Good luck @tersha , that is my lens’s sweet spot, f8 seems to be the sharpest. I’m very pleased with this Sigma lens, for a cheaper lens it performs really well on everything from wild life to moon to semi macro. I used this lens for the gum nuts shots to completely blow the back ground out at 400mm. While not a fantastic subject it worked well. I happen to like gum nuts so that’s just as well. Have a look at this shot I should let you guess what it is but I’m not sure you would. It is a star shot at 400mm for 424 seconds cropped very tight. Like the caption say’s “Now for something completely different”. Let me know what you think.
