I started at a young age of 7 when my father and I created a camera from a Kodak photographic paper box, a glass film plate and a pin. The film plate was placed in the back of the light proof box and held in place with sticky tape, the lid closed and the pinhole made through the two layers of the box. The box placed on a window sill looking across the road towards the parish church and we used a 30 minute exposure.

We developed the plate and printed the first photograph I had taken. The black and white image was sharp from the edge of the window sill to the furthest image at infinity. I had the picture saved away in a box in my loft but could not find it when we moved. I can still remember the picture clearly but do not have an image of this picture to share.
