Good idea @catz! I always keep an eye out for bikes (I quite like them!)… You can get some real nice ones around London.
This was at Lake Tahoe, California last year. We had cycled to the supermarket to buy some steaks for dinner to cook at the hostel we were staying at and this amazing sunset appeared. Best meal I had on the trip, and probably the best sunset too!

Oh and @catz, I noticed that bike had been painted white… In and around London there is a tradition of people chaining up old bikes (that have been painted all white) in memory of cyclists that have been killed… Is it the same where you are?

@thepaparazzo, yes, it is the same here in the us. There are many “ghost bikes” in NYC but not so many where I live, in the Hudson Valley. In fact, the first one I ever encountered was on our first New Years Eve in NY. We watched the ball drop from my DH office building, then on the way home we saw a bike painted entirely white, and decorated for Christmas.

I thought it was someone’s quirky idea for Christmas street art. Later, on a different photography site, someone explained it’s significance.
Here is a link to the ghost bike site if you or anyone else is interested: http://ghostbikes.org/

I took this yesterday in my local bike store and converted it to B & W.

The original version of the bike store wall in the earlier post. I thought the colors distracted from the repitition which was my reason for the B & W conversion. I’d like to know other opinions on the color/B & W versions.

Not the greatest photograph of a bike, but it fits the bill…… 🙂

First upload, not sure it’s in the right place. It’s a complicated procedure to post a picture.
Anyway. Picture taken in Amsterdam of a bicycle that has lost it’s way. -

@tersha It does help thank you, but I got all my little neurons to hold hands and together they worked it out and recalled what I was after. Thanks.

Here’s just a bit of a bike, illuminated by a flashing LCD front bike light.

All the preceding posts were just GREAT! I read recently that photos of bicycles were very popular, but i don’t think i understood that until I scrolled through these posts and noticed my reaction. They all made me smile. Anyway, given what I had read, and even though I didn’t claim to understand, I still took the opportunity, when it presented itself, to take a photo for my collection. (Please forgive me – this is part of my HDR phase. I’m still in recovery.)

@iangad That’s a great shot. Something very different from the rest of the submissions! But I do like it…
Spotted this old thing at a country home I visited the other week. Not sure how much action it sees these days!

Wisconsin bicycle by crystal on Light Stalking
Early morning frost, I had to take my camera and grab some photos before it melted. The bikes left out in the yard just drew my attention. Getting the right angle and part of the bike took some trial and error this was my favorite result. Any advice for improvement?

Hello guys I am new to the site and I would like to leave comments and feedback on some individual pictures and I don’t see a button to address a particular image? I don’t want to leave a comment on page 3 for a photo on page 1. Is there a way to give the image a comment right under the image? Any help would be great thanks.
