Everyone has a favorite place to shoot! That place where you feel totally in control and like a creative genius behind the lens. That place where no matter what time of day or how in a photo-rut you feel, its the place that makes you remember why you got into this god-awfully expensive hobby or profession. THAT place.
My place is the dog beach. I have totally gone head over heels for photographing dogs.(No judging, just go with it:). I try to capture their personalities, plus I like them much more than most people. We are lucky enough to live close to a dog beach and we frequent it almost every weekend, always with camera in hand! It always makes me want to capture those moments of pure doggy joy, as they run, play and are free for a few hours from the constraints of a leash and commands of an owner. Their happiness is just super cool and a total joy to photograph. It also challenges me every time, and is always different. It is my photography heaven.Whats yours?
Yes, this is the west side of the dog beach. Gotta love a Florida sunset…
This was the most fearless little one-eyed dog I have ever seen. She was a hoot!
Can’t not have Molly in here, she’s the whole reason I discovered this place!CC: @Albirder

Oh yes, the Canaveral National Seashore is my slice of heaven. I only get there about once a year, but I am thinking of being a “snowbirder” and renting a condo in the area during the winter. It is all part of a rather elaborate plan that entails convincing children to have a “mother’s suite” so I can stay with them part of the year. It looks surprisingly promising. One child down, the hardest one, actually, is building a house with a separate space. My son-in-law has always had a servant’s heart, so he is good to go if they can find a house in Nashville with such space. Then they can visit me in the winter!

Oh, I love the reflection in that! Thats only about three hours from me! Would love to visit it. We have some friends in Melbourne, so next time we go to visit them, I will certainly have to check it out! Let the boys go fishing and I’ll head out on assignment!

You know I am loving everyone of these. It is not SharkTank, I know, but I am thinking the crops are a little too tight on some of the action shots. Like #1 & #2. But I could be wrong! If you were in my town, I would be your first paying customer!

I would never charge you Albirder!
Thanks Tersha! I do love that little one block stretch of beach on a Friday evening. A comfy chair, my son in the water with a boogie board and his dog and an ice cold beer. Best end of the week ever! If your ever in South Florida, beers at the dog beach are on me! (Or maybe Albirder……lol).

I know it’s a cliche’, but I would have to say that my favorite place to shoot is wherever I am with whatever I have. I am TERRIBLE at iphoneography. Maybe I am just too old to hold the darn thing steady. Whatever…when I see something I want to remember, I whip out whatever I have. In this case, it was my cousin’s son’s wedding this weekend. I went outside the venue for some fresh air and spotted the moon. It’s blurry and grainy, but I am pretty sure it’s the only one of its kind that evening.

Join us in the Mobile Monday Forum. We are all likes! What do you think the two lights are above the house? I really like this, and, yes, I’ll bet it is one of a kind. It memorializes that their wedding was on a night of a full moon. It would be so great if they thought about that every full moon of their lives.

Allows Edits? YesLet’s make it exciting…Looks like two UFO’s to me 😉
-
July 20, 2015 at 2:19 am #200490
I think the two lights are probably light flares. Or UFO’s… Or planets… Here’s why I think so. I took some photos of the moon last fall and got an anomaly in some of the shots. This is the best view, along with a crop to see the flare close up. Looks like a planet but I really think it is a light flare. Unless the camera was able to pick up something that I could not see with my naked eye.

In the cropped version it really does look like a planet with the color swirls portraying land and water maybe?

I find myself at home (heaven hehe) photographing flowers… I cant get enough of them.. different shapes and colors, different angles to photograph and different things that go well with a full flower shot or a good closeup (like insects or water drops).. One can find different ways to present the natural beauty of flowers..
Here are a few shot with iphone. Both pictures are straight out of the camera.

That little dandelion is all that he can be in your photo. Flattering. Very flattering. Did you use a macro lens for both of them? Mobile Monday starts anew every week. Just sayin’.

Love the dandelion. What a great way to turn a weed into some sunshine! I like shooting flowers too, you are so right about the colors and angles. Great shots, especially with a phone.

I have several photography heavens and the zoo is certainly one of them.
First stop is the orangutans that never fail to amuse me. They are so
intelligent and seem to know just what to do to get a laugh. This one seems
to be saying: I have a headache so please get the camera out of my face!-

Allows Edits? YesI hear you about the frustration of others. I choose to go alone when I
want to do serious shooting. I get my best shots then. I’m also in the
zone so I’m probably no fun to be with. Like your giraffes. -

I never started out to photograph flowers but with the botanic garden nearby,
I became addicted to going there. The serenity and peace I experience there
is not matched by any place I’ve ever been. It’s definitely Paradise for me.-

This flower almost looks surreal. What is amazing to me is that it is all in focus. It is not that a macro has to be completely in focus, but so many miss by a mile. Did you use a flash?

Allows Edits? YesThanks, Diane. It was a young poppy just opening up, and it was taken 4:30 p.m. in February so just caught the last of the light… all that worked in my favor.
I used a wide angle lens, 52mm, at F5.6, ISO 400, no flash, and probably had a lot of luck. I didn’t have to crop much of it. It was one of those rare days when everything seemed to come together.

I don’t seem to have a heaven yet. I try to take photographs reflecting various moods or feelings that can be shared with those viewing. Some times I can almost succeed, but most go into the bin. A bit of a perfectionist, I tend to be my own harshest critic. This was taken in the early morning when there was still a chill in the air.

Thank you all, this is the desert close to Dubai, it is mostly yellowish sand, I played with the hue and vibrance in Lightroom to enhance the almost sunset atmosphere and to translate the heat. It was a nice trip, although more fun for the drivers to get people either screaming or feed the non-present fish 😉 I preferred my trips in Marocco, Oman (Wahiba) and Namibia because they were more in tune with nature. The colour in Namibia is more of a really red tone but only during sunrise/sunset, during the day it looks just as ‘ordinary’ as any other sand.

The colour reminds me of some Namibia shots I have seen in photographic magazines. From what I can see this looks like it was a fun trip to the desert.

Right now anywhere I can be so I can take some interesting photos would be my photo heaven. Mostly for me right now it is still life and macro right here in my home. I like taking the camera to Walmart and photographing all the pretty flowers in their garden shop. I’ve never been told I couldn’t but if they ever did, I’d just tell them I want to see how they might look in my flower bed at home. I also love going to our local Children’s Garden to shoot flowers and plants, etc. Anywhere with nature and wildlife, especially if there is water involved.
