Good shot @mikell! I like their eyes and the scene, showing the cooperative work. You have captured several fast subjects with a great sharpness. I hope they didn’t bit you :)!Check It Out

    "Pisaury", the photographer-spiderHi everybody :)!

I present you my new friend!

(Please, click here to view larger in Flickr).

I think It’s a Nursery web spider (Pisauridae mirabilis). The biggest that I’ve ever seen.

It was a spider very interested in arts as photography, as you can see in the pic below.

    Very funny subject, @tersha :)!

I think that snails are difficult, because of the large distance between its eyes and the rest of its head. The correct focus is complicated. Your choice of use a large depth of field is a good idea.

I’ve seen very artistic pictures of snails in the opposite: with a very thin DoF, focusing only the eyes and…[Read more]

  • astaroth Replied to a Topic (How Would You Rate Photos?)

Ups! I’ve just read this topic.

Sorry, but I have not great ideas about that. I think to rate something so subjective as photograph is very difficult.

    Maybe something like:

    1.- Composition.
2.- Feeling (message / emotional transmission).
    3.- Lighting.
4.- Focus (good use of sharpness or intentional blur).
    5.- Processing.

    Thanks, @toadhollow :)!

Hyperfocal distance is a very interesting concept, @admin . I’ve read, even I’ve written about it, under the theoretical point of view of the geometric optic, but sometimes I’ve had troubles when I’ve tried to bring it to the empiric field.

I bought a telemeter for measure the exact hyperfocal distance. Now I try to…[Read more]

Thank you very much @toadhollow :)! About the depth, I try to use de hyperfocal distance to get a large depth of field, and I also try get a communication between the nearest and farthest planes, with nearby textures and far items.Check It Out

Thanks @karamen :)! I like the fields’ photography: golden cereals + very blue skies. In these cases I shoot in the same direction as the light for get powerful colours (and I increase the colour in the post-processing).Check It Out

Haha, “The Ghost Photographer”, who appears and disappears :).

@admin , sadly, I haven’t enough free time to make everything I would like… If I had it, I would participate in these wonderful forums more frequently :). By other hand, although I’ve not been writing, I’ve always been here reading in the shadows :).Check It Out

Thank you very much @karamen :)! The second one is my preferred too. That hill has something special.

I like muted colours :), maybe because of I’m colour-blind. The shapes are stronger when the colour is missed.

These are some more colourful examples, from a recently previous walk:

Wow! Good work! Is very difficult to take pictures of these bugs in flight in my opinion. The focus seems good and the bee is framed by the flowers. I like it :)!Check It Out

The Last Breath of the QueenWith the cool, the normal wasps die, but its queens survive in a hibernation mode. I’ve been taking pictures of this wasp several times since months ago. I think its forces are decreasing and these could be its last moments.
