@peters , @falx I spotted that after I posted, good suggestion I think I need to clean and flatten out the background. I’ll see if I can reshoot and add in Valery P’s suggestion

@valeryp I’ll give that a go and see how it looks, thanks for the suggestion!Check It Out

Thanks @riteshsaini I think I was on the lowest aperture the lens can do, I could try raising the monster figure up a little which would create a bit more space between it and the background..

With special thanks to my daughter for the loan of her slinky..
I wanted to practise macro, still life photography to create an abstract image from something relatively mundane, I’m looking for editing tips or alternative focal points, it is a static subject so reshooting is…

and I’ve just bought a Yongnou Speedlight flash which I am trying to get to grips with

Occasionally I will use an ND or polariser but not that often

I am also currently having a great time with the Samsung Galaxy S4…[Read more]

White Lines and a Monster..I’m going through a still life phase at the moment. I don’t often use my 70-300 lens with the “macro” feature but today I decided I was going to finally make some use out of it, so with some assistance from my daughters toys, my tripod and some black cloth I set about trying to get some good shots, it is a lot harder…[Read more]

  • ed.aldridge Replied to a Topic (Because anyone can be a photographer… I said so!)

@aileen3691 exactly, I take a lot of pictures but I am still not convinced I can call myself a photographer..

You put a pro in the same spot as a person with a point and shoot then 9 pictures out of 10 the pro will get a shot the point and shoot guy wouldn’t have seen let alone been able to capture. Check It Out

I think unless you are lucky enough to be a professional paid to travel you tend to shoot what you have access to, for me that is people, I use my phone because on a train a DSLR stands out like a sore thumb and like you @thepaparazzo I don’t like confrontation. I think the reason his reaction upset me is because he took 5 minutes out of my 38…[Read more]

@bugadrienne Cats are always well behaved with “the bringer of food” lol but I would disagree with anyone who says they are tame, they just know an easy life when they see it :) (I have nothing against cats by the way)Check It Out

    Thanks @bugadrienne for both comments.

It is one of my rules that I try me best to make the subject look as good as I possibly can with the camera and software I use, hopefully if they ever see them they will like the way they look.

Thanks to you too @karamen I am being slightly pretentious here but you can think of the pond as an ever…[Read more]

@bugadrienne Lovely series of pictures, too many of them were favourites to name them all but the two standouts for me were Bug on Nose and the first cat picture which I have decided to call “Tame…I don’t think so”Check It Out
