Way to bring me out of the woodwork again! This is from a couple of weeks ago, I don’t title pictures generally, but my gut is to call this one “Team Meeting”.

First attempt? In probably the hardest environment! Excellent shot, I’m quite impressed!

Okay folks … my dear husband volunteered me to take pictures at his parents’ 50 year wedding anniversary party this weekend. Yay?

I will be using my D90 and my 18-135 lens and I have a Graslon Spark flash diffuser (http://graslon.com/spark-flash-diffuser/) which does a pretty good job at making the pop-up flash work well. No, I do not have any speed flashes or remote flashes. No, I don’t have any gear except the camera, the lens and a tripod (which wouldn’t be too handy at a party). I probably won’t know most of the people there (except the immediate family, of course).

Tips? Tricks? Photograph ideas? Of course I’ll get snapshots of any activities, and decorations/props. But what about the people candids? My only thought is to get the standard ”sitting at the tables” pictures, which get boring after a while.

    Help!
    Pam

Oh … and even though I do take the occasional pictures with my cell phone, I have a hard time considering it to be a viable camera replacement!

Thinking ahead for my trip to England this summer. I’m taking my 10 and 12 year old kids and they want/deserve cameras to document their vacation. I’m thinking compact. I’m thinking Canon (yes, I’m a Nikon DSLR person, but I tend to be a Canon compact person). I’m considering the Canon A2200. At $90 it’s still more than I’m interested in spending, but I do want it to be better than a ”toy”. Thoughts?

I do not have insurance on my Nikon. If offered I would’ve turned it down but I don’t remember it being an option. I bought it at my local camera store. I’m sure if I had bought it at Best Buy or other box store they would’ve pushed their insurance on me! There are after-market [...]

I have a “compatible” battery for my Nikon D90. I had misplaced my charger and wanted to buy a new Nikon branded charger … and they evidently don’t sell them aftermarket. I found a place on Amazon that sold a charger, with additional battery for the same price I was seeing charger-only pricing. As others [...]

I’ve just thought of something I’d like to see Nikon add to their (my) camera … a visible level in the viewfinder. I take 98% of my shots handheld. I’d like to see a line that’s always horizontal so I can make necessary corrections on the fly. Seems like it could be a ”simple” software update.

I have traditionally kept a UV filter on my lens to “protect” my lenses. Yes, Tom, it actually did save my lens from a fall. My kids were “helping” me by getting my camera out of a car trunk and dropped the (old, unpadded) camera bag. The UV filter was shattered … the actual lens [...]
