In our era, content is best consumed when it comes in the format of image and video. Once upon a time, blogs with written content where a huge thing, nowadays they are still strong, but video blogs or vlogs also reign supreme.
A lot of content creators have embarked in the journey of becoming vloggers. One of the main tools they need (besides having relevant content), is a reliable camera that allows them to show themselves and the thoughts they have to share with the world.
Today we are skipping the bulky DSLR and the extremely complex to use cameras that make photographers drool all over the place. Today we are talking about the best cameras for vlogging.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II

This is a great choice if you are about to jump seriously into vlogging. This is a lightweight yet powerful camera with superb image quality. It comes with a pretty large CMOS sensor (1″ with 20.1 megapixels) with auto and manual focus capabilities. Manual focus is great if you want to keep things consistent when recording.
This sort of cameras is where Canon should put their efforts the most, they are just great. It also comes with an extremely powerful lens that spans from 24 to 100mm, and if that's not enough for you, it has an aperture of f/1.8 at 24mm and f/2.8 at 100mm, that is really impressive. With this camera you'll have not only a huge focal length range to work with, but also it will behave superbly at low light situations.
This tiny beast has built-in WiFi and a high resolution 3″ LCD tiltable screen. It is also pretty portable and inconspicuous for still shots.

It is impossible these days to make a camera intended list and not mentioning Sony at some point. This is the sixth version of their RX100 premium compact camera system and is truly impressive.
It comes with built-in Zeiss 24-200mm (f/2.8-f/4.5) zoom lens. This camera is great for vlogging purposes due to its high image quality and extremely accurate auto-focus (hybrid) system with 315 focal points.
It also comes with a powerful electronic viewfinder, which makes it great for street photography as well. Its LCD screen has touch capabilities, which makes it great for fast focusing on subjects that matter the most for the frame. Oh, and it records in 4K as well.

Panasonic Lumix GH5S

If you are already a somewhat experienced vlogger and you want to take it to the next level, then this camera might be the perfect workhorse for you. This is a different camera because it is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. You should only be considering interchangeable lenses cameras if you are creating content beyond recording yourselves. If you are pretty much about filming your face, then this camera is way too much for you.
The Lumix DC-GH5S from Panasonic has been designed as a filmmaking camera, but we know that many vloggers out there are creating some pretty awesome stuff that gets really close to what cine looks. This camera has a breathtaking image power and performs incredibly under low-light situations. This video performance will give you the power of capturing anything and creating some really powerful content.

If you want to stay within a reasonable budget, but still have the power of being able to interchange lenses, then this is the right camera for your vlogs. This mighty little fella has a 24.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor with a pretty fast autofocus speed (0.05 sec.) and a really high amount of phase detection focal points (it has 425!).
With the Sony a6500 you could be able to record in 4K, and if you ever decide to upgrade within the Sony line-up, all the lenses that fit this camera, are well suited for their APS-C mirrorless camera systems. And just like the RX100 VI, it has an extremely powerful electronic viewfinder with almost no lag at all. Its built-in 5-axis in-body image stabilization system will help you a lot while recording handheld.

GoPro Hero 7

Any vlogger should have an action camera of some sort, they are extremely portable and helpful in tricky conditions. GoPro has a pretty solid legacy, and they have been enhancing their Hero series through the years. The latest Hero7 has a lot of interesting features like 4k video recording, image stabilization, live streaming, touch screen and more.

Flying Solo

These are the features that you need to look for when investing in a new camera for vlogging purposes.

  • Image Quality
  • Low-Light behavior
  • WiFi Capabilities
  • Image Stabilization
  • Audio
  • Tiltable Screen

Traditionally speaking, only photographers and photography enthusiasts have been thrilled about cameras in the past. But thanks to this way of developing entertainment, the interest in cameras has been changing a lot in the recent past.
This has been great for camera manufacturers because they have been able to take care of this recent target in a very special way. This has been achieved via compact cameras that have amazing image quality and ease of (within normal) use.
