Allows Edits? YesThanks Dahlia,
The original bloom was actually quite ugly dirty pale yellow and lacking any color variation, I almost trashed it .Black and White with High key made all the difference.

Allows Edits? YesThanks Diane. As usual I have absolutely no idea what it is I am photographing botanically speaking and I have never heard of Cranesbill but I’m happy to go with that. I just likes the ray effect emanating from the buds created by some background leaves.

Love these flower! They keep their colour and look beautiful years later. I have a bundle of them from two summers ago and continue to photograph them (although once in awhile I have to do dust removal). Nice capture.

My wife Carol has used Strawflowers for years in making dry flower wreaths. Statice was another flower that keeps it’s color when dry that she’s used a lot as well.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time shooting what was available in our yard the last couple of years. I really enjoy it so have plenty of images to draw from. I’ll do my best to keep it to these two. Well, maybe just one more. 🙂

I agree, Dave! The backyard has lots to offer. And as the seasons change, new opportunities are presented. Great shots! I love the opening sunflower – you can almost feel the petals and leaves unfurling.

Thanks for your comments Leanne. I believe that many photographic opportunities exist in most peoples yards and neighborhoods. Now that I’m older and my life has slowed down somewhat I’ve been seeing a lot more. 🙂

Allows Edits? YesAll great shots Dave. Very crisp and detailed textures. You’re right about the backyard. It’s my go-to place when I need to get my shutter button fix and don’t have the time to head off somewhere remote. The backyard tends to pull one’s focus in tighter and get the macro out 🙂

Thanks for the comment Graham. 🙂 We’ve recently moved and our “new” yard had been neglected for quite a while it seems. The time spent renovating has given me ample opportunities to photograph what is right here at home. And I completely agree. My macro lens has been putting in quite a bit of overtime. 🙂

This was growing in my front lawn this spring. It was all my itself. Just one small flower. I do not have any others like this on my property.
