        Hi,

I have just joined today, I was getting tips sent through from Rob via Pinterest and I needed some advice on choosing a new camera.  I’d had a bridge camera for years until the sensor went.  I then bought a Canon EOS M3 and relative lenses.  I had been getting a bit frustrated with it as it does not come with a view finder but LCD screen.  Not a problem if you have time to set it up for landscape photography but found it useless for wildlife shoots quite recently.

So I asked Rob for any recommendations, to which he very quickly responded and has given me some great information to help me (Thank you Rob????).

With the information I have knuckled it down to two possibilities:

        Sony A6500

        Nikon D500

I have chosen these for price  (£1,000) and features

If possible can anyone suggest one more camera around this price and make any comment on the other two cameras if you have them.

I am interested in all forms photography but a novis with some knowledge and wanting to become better.

@sweeney12 Hi Sweeney, welcome to the forums. Your choice of cameras are good. I have tried the Sony A6500 (not mine, one of my friends’) and I like its low light performance and dynamic range. It is fast in focussing as well. I have not tried wildlife with that, so cannot comment on it.

Will wait to see what other members have to say 🙂

@sweeney12 Hello Sweeney, welcome to LightStalking! I’ll suggest a few more cameras around the same price that you can consider:

            • EOS 7D Mark II
            • EOS 5D Mark IV
            • Fujifilm mirrorless – such as the X-T2
