Allows Edits? YesI promised Diane AKA Tersha a Frog throw down a while back, which I know she is going to crush. So here it is.
In early spring on the plains of Wyoming you here these frogs singing at dusk, they are very skittish and dive at the slightest sound or movement, and hard to photograph with out a great deal of patience. They are also only about 1.2 inches long and can be hard to spot with heads barley bigger than a American Quarter.
These were shot with a 1200mm equivalent lens from around 20 ft away.

Allows Edits? YesNo Robert, not a frog dealer!
Every year in our pond, there’s masses of frogspawn ……….but, we have quite a few fish in the pond, and inevitably they eat the tadpoles as they emerge. So, I bring some spawn indoors and grow the frogs on, until they are big enough to fend for themselves, then release them back into the garden. Its a lot of faffing around, feeding them etc., but it’s fun to watch them grow. 🙂

I’m curious about how you feed them Diane.

Allows Edits? YesRob, I feed the tadpoles with propriety Tadpole food. When they grow both front and back legs, and the tail starts to disappear, I put them into a tank filled with moss, rocks and leaves, with a little water. Then I feed them with micro crickets(bought), plus any greenfly that I can find in the garden. After a couple of months or so I release them back into the garden.

Tersha, the frog whisperer. I love all of your frog photographs. Congratulations for receiving the Photo of The Week Award. Your tree frogs are wonderful. I especially love your frog images where you view the frogs from underneath. Your frog photographs are beautiful and quite incredible.
How do you take care of them until they are old enough to fend for themselves? As Rob asked, how do you feed them? I am very interested. Our swimming pool was turned into a wildlife pool after the round of hurricanes back in 2005. We have turtles, frogs, but no fish. I would love to be able to photograph some of the frogs. Please tell me more. We have these little yellow frogs that are so elusive. I have never been able to photograph them.

Allows Edits? YesHoratio, thanks for the comments! 🙂
I’ve just answered Rob, above, about how I feed them.
Your swimming pool sounds very interesting, do you take any shots of turtles?
What country do you live in, I’d be interested to know what the little yellow frogs are.-

Tersha, thank you so much for the reply to Rob. I plan on attempting this.
The turtles are quite elusive. Soon as they see any movement, they disappear under water. I see them momentarily. When I very slowly walk outside with the camera up to my eye, and attempt to take a shot, so far, they have all come out blurry. I have not given up.
This house is in Florida, USA, west of Cape Canaveral.
