I like the perspective on this one Kent. Its a fairly bleak and cold-looking scene and the angle of view enhances this I think. I can almost imagine a 4 horse-drawn carriage passing by in the BG ala Young Frankenstein 🙂

Thanks Dahlia and Rob. After converting it from colour to B&W I used a high-pass filter on it which resulted in the slight halo effect you can see behind the tree. Perhaps this is the attraction?

These are wonderful, Graham.  I think the 1st is my favorite because of the perspective, which begins at the bottom with the bulging white-ish truck with odd patches of bark design, and rockets up to dozens of branches…  Cool.

In the Lake District (UK) one comes across many many oddly shaped trees for some reason, alongside some truly majestic ones.
The intrinsic quality (sharpness, light, …) of this photograph was rather poor because I had to shoot through a hole in the forest almost and I didn’t take enough time to get it right, which I greatly regret now. But I still like how they seem to be hugging and therefor I’m posting it here anyway.

Below is an image from 2 weeks ago of the remains of 2 hardwood trees, taken from friends’ back porch.  View is of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware.  In 2012 Hurricane Sandy caused a flow of tidal saltwater from the Delaware Bay into what were freshwater marshes.  Hardwood trees died.   Marsh restoration has been completed now, and everyone’s fingers are crossed, waiting for the next hurricane.

My family recently visited Vancouver Island for spring break and I thought I would share a few tree-related highlights. I was quite stunned by the number of tree photos I had taken. They were a popular subject, apparently!

we were on vacation on 9-11 and were spending time in Colorado. i was thankful to be able to spend time outdoors in God’s beauty during the day as in the evening we would sit and cry watching the news.  each day would refresh me and helped me face the nights. my heart still hurts.  took lots of photos of trees. my gear was digital with a max of 96 ppi.  this just spoke to me –
