I like the soft & foggy look. I'd crop out the bottom until just above the rock in the right bottom corner. That would give it more of a pano feel which always works in seascapes. It would also let the front wave enter the shot in the left bottom corner which would look better (I think).

Interesting rock formations! They appear to be walking over walruses! TFS!
Dan personally I think the waterfall itself is perfect. The problem is with the over abundance of plants, obscuring much of the surroundings. I think you have extracted the optimum features from this scene – nothing to be salvaged in PP.
Thanks Dahlia! From a human point of view it is almost tragic but I guess from a nature point of view everyone is happy: the cuckoo world is a bird richer and the foster parent has raised another chick successfully, LOL! 🙂
I was in Asia (Thailand) and I know how they operate so to me the original shot is perfect. I like the blur too because it holds your attention for a moment so that you realize what this is about.
As I always tell the guys here at home: if you think that you're taking out a local girl in Thailand you better feel first to make sure… 😉
I didn't see her until you mentioned her Graham. I think she fulfills a role though because if you remove her then you can just as well remove the bottom 3rd and left 3rd. She does add some interest though and one does eventually find her as your eyes wander across the empty space.
LOL! Yea Tom I guess not to many sports shooters around!
But since you're in the ST and looking for feedback: there's nothing that really ‘bites' me in the image – that keeps my interest. Maybe if you shot it from over the blocker's shoulder as the ball was coming towards him … but that's easier said than done as you need a bit of luck to achieve that!
Thanks Rob! There are no limitations here as long as the foster parents follow the same diet as the cuckoo. Remember – to the foster parents there is absolutely no doubt that this is their own blood! They are not fuzzed at all by the fact that it might look a little different from their previous offspring! 🙂
