You know the scenario - you take a shot and it's good, but it's not great. The only problem is that you cannot figure out why. 

You post it on a forum and the plaudits start rolling in. Everyone says "great shot" but you know it's not. You just want somebody with a bit of experience to show you where you have gone wrong.

But no, you're just repeatedly hearing what a great photographer you are. That you're the next Ansel Adams. The likes roll in. The comments are all gushing.

The only problem?

You know it's not true.

You see, a culture has built up among photography forums to just continually post "Great capture" or "Nice shot" and while it's nice to hear, it's not particularly helpful or even all that authentic. Even the great Ansel Adams only aimed for 12 keepers per year, so you know not every shot you take is going to be great.

But where do you go for actual friendly critique?

You see, we do a couple of things differently to other communities.

We have specific places for specific types of feedback.

Our General Photo Chit Chat section is a great place to make friends, enjoy each others' shots, ask questions and just generally chill out. Hell, you might even get a couple of "Lovely shot" type of comments there and that has its place.

The Shark Tank is a bit more complicated. It's friendly and polite, but you will find out exactly what people would have done differently in your shots. This is where you get your truthful critique. And you will almost always get feedback that you had not thought of. Always in a friendly way.

And that is how our community helps you improve your photography in a friendly, but challenging environment. 

The thing is, we are trying to build something very unique here.

We are not looking for lurkers.

We want people who want to improve. That means jumping in and participating.

If you just want to casually look around and browse people's shots, this probably isn't the forum for you. We want to share our journey with others who are committed to improvement and active learning.

You don't need to be a good photographer, but you need to want to be. 

If you are serious about practicing and getting better at photography and you want to share that journey with other like minded photographers, then this is something you will want to take a look at.
