Allows Edits? YesHey, welcome to the site! This thread is to introduce yourself to the rest of the community!
I’ll go first.
I am Rob Wood – the founder of Light Stalking. I got into photography because my mum was a very serious amateur photographer who was published in a few photography magazines when I was a kid. We even had a purpose built darkroom when I was young.
My first SLR was the Canon AE-1 and I continued taking photography courses through high school and learned all about working in a darkroom at that time (both school and home).
I always maintained a pretty strong interest in photography, but really started taking it seriously again when I combined my love of writing, photography and websites to build Light Stalking in 2009. At that point, I realised there was a LOT more to learn.
Anyway, scroll to the bottom of the page and introduce yourself!
Cheers,
RobPS – If you have any questions, they are probably answered in our FAQs.

I am Dieter. I am a Master Platinum Gold and Silversmith and Photography is my 2nd passion. I got into Photography trying to take photos of my own work whenever there was no time for a professional to take them. The digital age changed this and I am now taking all my own photos and more. I have not found the style i want to specialize as yet. I am using a Cannon EOS 700 D with a 50mm fixed ,a 18-55 and a 75-300 Lens.
What i am looking for is to somebody crit my photos so i can improve. I have by now thousands of photos and i don`t know which one is nice, special or exceptional.
The shark tank sounds just what i need.
Looking forward hearing all your criticism.-

Hi, I am Jeroen, a recently amateur photographer turned professional. I always loved design, visuals and photos, but never really took the time to develop one of those skills till early this year.
I’m still figuring this photography thing out, as I always am looking for ways to improve myself. Whether in actually taking the shot as well as in the business side of it. And the things I already figured out, I’m more than willing to share. 🙂
If you want to take a look at the stuff I did so far, you can check out my professional page on http://jeroendanckersfotografie.be/ or the travel photos on the blog of my girlfriend http://www.wanderersblues.be/.
I’m hoping to get inspired and inspire myself.

I’m Richard from Florida USA, I purchased my first camera in 1977 it was a Pentax K1000 that I still have but I been out of photography since 1995. I recently decided to get back into it again but being it’s all digital now it’s much like starting all over for me so I consider myself an amateur, my new camera is a Pentax K3 and I’m still trying to learn all of its bells and whistles.
I’m hoping I can pick up some tips and techniques in the forums so I’ll probably be doing more reading then I will writing at first.

Hi, I’m Susan from WA state. I’ve enjoyed photography for most of my life but began to take it seriously about 10 years ago. Then about a year ago, I began to take it VERY seriously! 🙂 My passion is macro floral – primarily in my studio. Post processing is of great interest to me, as well. I’m a self-taught (so far) amateur. So happy to be here!

Hi,
My name is Frederick (fred). I live in Georgetown Texas and I don’t carry a gun. Most of my shooting is with cameras although I do like to visit the pistol range- helps focus. My real hobby is photography. I have been following this site but somehow I dropped out of the system. I have always gotten emails but I couldn’t log in. I really enjoy Lightstalking and I hope to learn and contribute more in the future.-

HI MY NAME IS ALEXANDRA I’M FROM CARACAS VENEZUELA. I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY I THINK IT IS A WAY TO EXPRESS YOUR SELF. I FIRST START TAKING PICTURES WITH MY FATHER’S CAMERA A KODAK THEN HE GIVE ME A CANON AV-1 FOR CHRISTMAS, BEST PRESENT EVER. I BEEN TAKING PHOTOGRAPH SINCE 1978 I THINK BUT JUST AS A HOOBY, BUT LATELY I BEEN GETTING THE DISIRE OF IMPROVE, TO TAKE BETTER PICTURES, TO GIVE THEM A WHOLE NEW LEVEL, GIVE THEM MORE MEANING. I DON’T KNOW HOW EXPLAINED VERY WELL SINCE MY ENGLISH IS NOT VERY GOOD. THE THING IS THAT I THINK MY PICTURES HAVE SOME LACK OF DEEPNESS, THEY ARE PICTURES OF ONE DIMINSION.

Hi,
I am Dr. Vasim Shaikh.
I am a doctor by profession.
As far as I remember, I loved taking photos even when I was a kid. I don’t exactly remember the camera I had back then, maybe it was a Yashika.
The first camera I bought was a Samsung point and shoot.
Since last year I have taken up the hobby seriously, learning about it, joining forums, etc. I have a Canon 1000D with 18-55mm lens and a 50 mm 1.8 prime lens.
There is no specific genre of photography that I like but I do some macro, landscape, portraits and street. I am limited by my lens for wildlife. I am looking forward to upgrade my camera soon.
I am looking for some constructive criticism for my photos. So I m here.
See u all around. -

Hello ,
My name is Lawson McCulloch and I am retired and live in Musselburgh, which is a small town outside Edinburgh, Scotland.
I took up photography about 15 years ago, a hobby which I truly love with my main interest being B/W and HDR, although I enjoy looking at all styles of photography.
I use a Sony NEX-7 mainly because it is nice and easy to carry around.I have over the years been in several forums but get so fed up with star chasers etc. I would like honest critique to allow me to learn and improve my photography. -

Hello,
I’m Allison. I have a really strong interest in Photography, but I admit I do need to set more time aside for it. My interest in photography started a while back. I used to watch America’s Next Top Model, not for the reality show drama, but for the photo shoot portion of the show. This was back in high school. I then went on and joined the yearbook committee to learn the basics of operating a camera. Now I’m currently in school full time, I just earned my Associates in Photography/Television, and I’m furthering my education at a 4-year college to earn a BFA. My dream is to one day have my own studio. I know I need work as far as post production goes (I know pretty much the need to know basics), but I’d also like constructive criticism for my photos as well.

Michael here. From SW Virgina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Absolutely love photography, especially involving structures, abandoned and otherwise, from the past. My trusty Nikon DSLR and assorted gear was replaced with the Panasonic GX7 and (what a great camera) the Fuji X100t. My arms and back are most happy with those changes. Glad to join the group to learn and share,

Hi,
I am David, from Colorado, USA. My wife and I are retirees checking off bucket list travel items. I ditched my point and shoot in 2008 after a trip to Alaska highlighted it’s shortcomings. Bought a Nikon film camera used, but switched to DSLR in 2011, a D300. Currently using a D600 and a D810 (brand new to me) for wildlife, primarily. My go-to lens is 80-400mm, but I take a 600mm for special situations. I am clueless on computers and in post-processing, and look forward to improving most there. There should be plenty of information in all areas for me here at Light Stalking.
My last trip was to Rocky Mountain National Park for the elk mating season. (:>)!!

Hi, I’m Idul, 50 y.o from Jakarta Indonesia.
I got into photography because I did not have any activities that interest me, all my activities and work already boring and uninteresting and at this time I’m look for activities that can refresh my life.
My first camera was Olympus mju zoom panorama bought in 1995 and I used approximately 3 years and finally I forget because of busy in daily work. My second camera is nikon d5200 that I bought in 2013, after trying how to operate/use it, I felt desperate because they can not produce an image that I want (this is not nikon fault! but because of my fools and ignorance). This year I gave a birthday present to myself FUJIFILM X-t1 kit plus 14, 27, 35 prime and 55-200 zoom. I hope with the new gear I can explore and try to make some photographs and I can get my passion again… I want my life back! -
