Hi, my name is Tom Durkin and I live in rural Northern California.
If there was a “first” photograph that inspired me, I really don’t remember what it was. I started shooting around 7 or 8. I think my first intentional photograph was when I was about 10 or 11. It was a cold, clear winter night. I laid on the ground, used my knee as a tripod, and shot a full moon through the leafless branches of a tree.
My hobby turned into part of my job as a daily news reporter/photographer. Eventually, late in my life, photography became my second profession as an event photographer and creative artist.
I’m almost entirely self-taught, and I use Corel PaintShop Pro instead of PhotoShop. If I have a photographic style, it’s eclectic. I shoot whatever interests me and whatever people pay me to shoot. -
