Is that Robert’s Bull Wasp in the corner?
Good shot Beth. -

On second thought, I don’t agree with myself, necessarily.
The two “older” people in the middle are also a part of storytelling.
Just a different story.
They work both. With and without. -

Thank you for the biology lessen!
Especially your first image is a smasher!
Should be a movie poster.“Coming, not only to a theatre near you!”

Hi Rob,
I like the B&W treatment and I also like the 30s smoothness of the water.
But the image does not work for me.You have a strong leading line but it is leading to nothing.
The water in the FG is nice and smooth, but it does not have enough to catch my interest.
The sky has on the right some stars, but they are not spectacular.
(and there…[Read more] -

Hi Lenny, it’s either putting a $15 lens on a 2k $ camera or buying a $30 Holga 120N and some analog 120 film. I can promise you, that is fun to do.

Erik Fransman replied to the topic Framed Toraco in the forum General Photo Chit Chat 1wk, 1d ago
Hi Tobie, Ik think the framing works. However, IMHO, there is too much clutter around the Toraco which takes away a lot of the effect. Also, the leaves around the bird are too bright. Which makes the bird not to stand out. And that also goes for the bottom.
I suggest a small crop from the bottom to get rid of these light parts at the bottom. Give…[Read more] -

Again I agree with you. I like the visual but it misses indeed a focal point. But, if there was a focal point, the title could probably not be “No Idea What You See?” because, with a focal point, you probably would have a clue what you see. Does that make sense?

Good point Lenny. However, a changing aspect ratio or crop may tell the story better. But first and foremost, it’s the story that it is about. Agree!

Thank you, Jim.
Yeah, Black and White may work here very well. I agree that the color mix here just adds a bit to the scene. -

Black and white works well. Storytelling as well. The two people in the middle are quite disturbing. Try to clone them out.

It’s not gonna die! Fuji Camera’s are made to last! And Fuji (as you know) is really good with firmware support, also for “older” cameras. So for now: Enjoy the camera!
(I have the X-T4 and it is also great, but the larger sensor of the GFX is fantastic)

Erik Fransman replied to the topic Can a Landscape be Vertical… in the forum Landscape Photography 2wk, 4d ago
Absolutely, a landscape can be vertical. However, I don’t this image is the best example of it.
For me, the vertical does not add to this image. There is just too much space.
You have the island with trees and the powerful wave. The foreground distracts me and so does the sky. For me, with this image, a more traditional aspect ratio works better.
