There are a lot of divergent opinions about artificial intelligence out there.

And nothing draws more attention right now than the generative segment of this new, emerging industry. Capable of creating almost anything using a text prompt, generative AI has many people worried about the future of not only creative endeavors but also other jobs.

After all, if an AI can handle a task capably well, who needs a person there? Well, as yesterday’s headline illustrated, it might not be the panacea to labor costs some hope it is (at least, not yet that is).

Even Adobe has expressed this concern but that hasn’t stopped the spirit of progress over there. In a recent blog post, the company revealed its new generative AI for audio. Certainly not the first in this space, Adobe is definitely one of the biggest.

Senior Research Scientist at Adobe Research Nicholas Bryan says of the tech, “With Project Music GenAI Control, generative AI becomes your co-creator. It helps people craft music for their projects, whether they’re broadcasters, or podcasters, or anyone else who needs audio that’s just the right mood, tone, and length.”

Basically, it’s another huge piece of the puzzle in Adobe’s quest to assemble a one-stop-shop for multimedia editing and creation. The generative AI in this case is capable of handling everything from beginning to end as well requiring only minimal input and adjustments from the user to get that “perfect” sound.

“One of the exciting things about these new tools is that they aren’t just about generating audio—they’re taking it to the level of Photoshop by giving creatives the same kind of deep control to shape, tweak, and edit their audio. It’s a kind of pixel-level control for music,” Adobe’s blog explains.
