It is the New Year and it is a time when there are stunning fireworks everywhere around the world. When capturing photos at night, we have to rely on artificial lights from the city or town – this could be the lights from buildings, street lamps, shops, etc., or natural light from the moon if it is more than 50 or 60% illuminated. In this article, we have put together a few resources that will give you ideas on what and how to photograph at night.

It’s been another amazing week on the Light Stalking forums with great photography by the community and the discussions in the forums have been engaging and very inspiring in the recent weeks. We’ve had more members joining the community the last few weeks, making the forum experience even more exciting.
The weekend photography challenge from last week was “Cultural Landmarks” and members came up with their creative interpretation of the theme by capturing very interesting shots – some of them are shared below.
There are no rules in photography, only guidelines – but, there are times when we photographers may need a quick reference or a setting to capture something on the field. For example, capturing a landscape, photograph the moon, starting to photograph the night sky, especially the milky way, or setting out in street photography.
