Back when everything was purely analog, picture frames were perhaps the single best way to enshrine a memory and showcase it to others.
But now we have so many options, and so many of our pictures are actually digital rather than film, that many of our traditional methods of showcasing our best don’t make sense.
Perhaps that’s what inspired Lexar to create Pexar, a digital picture frame company that aims to carve out a space for a modern take on a classic presentation style.
Available through Amazon, the frames sport a 2k resolution, PetaPixel reports, resulting in a pretty clear picture that is sure to catch the eye.
“Inside the home, pexar digital picture frames are fantastic decorative pieces and conversation starters. They feature a subdued, thin-bezel design that complements any modern home. Their magnetic stand supports both portrait and landscape orientations, and the display will automatically adjust to match the chosen position.”
But, wait, you might be thinking to yourself, none of this is really a new concept. Digital picture frames have been around the market for a while now. What makes Lexar’s effort different?
The differentiating factor here is a social aspect (we can already hear you groaning). Up to 512 users can be added to the frame and given permission to upload pictures to it. That’s not only a huge number of people, that’s also likely to result in some more than unfortunate uploads whether intentional or unintentional. With storage of 40,000 pictures (32GB), we also wonder how meaningful the frames will be at a certain scale. With a collection of 40,000 photos, it might be a while before it cycles back to your favorites, the thinking goes.
Any thoughts you might have on digital picture frames are welcome in the comments.
