Lightroom Update, Darktable Update and News About the X-T6

As always, it has been another huge week in photography news and I thought I would try something different by offering a list of pretty interesting articles that I think you might be interested in.

Adobe Lightroom has another major update, and the big news from that is that their masking feature for “select subject” has improved dramatically, according to Matt Kloskowski. If you're a light user, you will know that the automatic masking options can be a little bit hit and miss, so for those of us who use this software regularly, this is a pretty big thing. You can see more about it here with Matt's video on the subject.

121 Clicks has a really interesting collection of 40 powerful photos that change how we see the past – as somebody who was a bit of a history and also a photography tragic, I love these types of articles and collections. A lot of people don't realise how much we actually owe to the art of photography and the people who make it, and these sorts of articles really bring that home and show what's at stake. You can have a look at the collection here.

The Upcoming X-T6 from Fuji is getting the folks over at Phoblographer due to a few important changes. Those include a reworking of the controls as well as the inclusion of a brand-new film simulation. Based on their excellent colour science standards, the film simulation is apparently causing quite a stir in the community. You can read more about it here.

Darktable released a huge new update with 5.6.0, which is a big step forward for the open-source raw developer. A lot of people look for free alternatives to the Adobe Suite, and Darktable has always been at the top of the list for those, so this has been big news for a lot of photographers who err towards open source software. You can read more about it here.

Those tidbits should keep you entertained and informed for the week so check back for more photography news in the coming days and weeks and we will keep you up-to-date.
