And with it improving every day, it’s only a matter of time before it’s nearly impossible for the naked eye to distinguish from traditional photography and generated content.

Presti is banking on that with its app that takes the pain (and expense) out of commercial furniture photography using generative AI.

CEO Nabil Toumi told TechCrunch, “Very quickly, we picked up the phone and talked with 50 potential users. And everyone was saying the same thing. Creating product visuals was a process that took a very long time, cost a lot of money and they didn’t have a simple solution for creating these photos. At the same time, it was really the most important asset for brands so that they can create a unique identity and sell online.”

Of course, Presti takes care of most of those pain points. Essentially, instead of all of the necessary staging that usually occurs with these kinds of commercial shoots, Presti generates an environment within which to place the furniture. It’s not hard to spot the immediate cost savings, but the environments have to make sense aesthetically as well as functionally. In other words, it has to look like a real space.

Thankfully, generative AI is way better at that than say generating realistic hands. Presti doesn’t just do backgrounds. It can add accessories and other embellishments to the image. It aims to be a complete solution for commercial furniture photography and its features reflect this aspiration. With generative AI already creeping into so many commercial spaces, it’s not really that surprising that even more specialized products like Presti are making their way to the marketplace.

Any thoughts that you might have on generative AI taking commercial photography jobs are welcome in the comments.
