One of the key competitive factors in the coming years is likely to be who has the best and most sophisticated AI platform for a specific purpose.

Whether it is photo and video editing, code generation, or writing, specifically tailored AI is likely going to be as prevalent as Microsoft Word and Excel.

And this isn’t lost on smartphone manufacturers where any competitive advantage is a potential leg up on other firms.

This is particularly true when it comes to the heated rivalry between Samsung and Apple, both makers of two of the most popular premium smartphones out there.

In a bid to distinguish itself from Cupertino’s products, Samsung announced that it is rolling out its AI platform, for free, to its smartphone devices through the end of 2025.

That means that any current or future Samsung owner will get access to the company’s powerful AI suite of features including the ever-popular video and photo editing.

PetaPixel reports that the company is also bringing its AI to other products such as its popular line of tablets. All of this, of course, comes on the heels of a rumored deal between Google and Apple to bring the former’s AI services to the latter’s smartphones so one has to wonder if this timing isn’t meant to perhaps head that off somewhat. One thing is certain: When it comes to AI platforms out there, users have a wealth of options, particularly when it comes to media editing and manipulation. Considering how worried many of us were about Adobe’s shift to a subscription model years ago and the potential for a virtual “monopoly” to today where there are more options for Adobe-like services than ever before, you have to admire the industry’s ability to be anything but boring.
