New product announcements used to be more normal than not.

Then along came the whole COVID-19 thing and a slew of cancellations that basically derailed most release schedules.

But it looks like we’re getting back into the swing of things and Sony has something mysterious prepped for debut on November 8 and 9 in Yokohama, Japan.

And that’s really all we know at this point until the November 8 event.

Thanks to PetaPixel for pointing this out and, while it’s great to have some hype again, we really wish there was some more information from Sony.

As PetaPixel points out it’s not like Sony hasn’t released a bunch of new stuff this year, the headiest among the lot being the $USD 25,000 Burano cinema camera. There was also the ILX-LR1 drone camera. Perhaps some of the biggest news was the 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master Mark II ultra-wide zoom in addition to two vlogging cameras, the ZV-1 Mark II and ZV-E1. That’s right: Two vlogging cameras in what can only be interpreted as a clear sign of the times as far as consumer cameras go.

Still, all of this and we can’t help but look forward to November 8th and we hope that Sony has something really cool to show off. We need that kind of energy again after one too many headlines about declining sales and canceled product lines, not to mention the whole AI revolution placing everything we know and love into question.

Once Sony let’s us know what’s so special about November 8, we’ll be sure to update you.

Do you still get hyped over new gear? What would you like to see from Sony on November 8? Let us know in the comments.

We have some other headlines here for you to read before you head out.
