Micro Tech, Macros, Vast Landscapes And More – The Weekly Community Roundup

Welcome to our weekly community wrap-up.  Each week, our community members come up with amazing stories from around the world through their photography. The past week had beautiful landscape, nature and macro photos on the Light Stalking forums with some stunning photography by the community and forum discussions.

Here is the Photo Of The Week that is judged by Federico every week. This week's photo of the week is by Anne. Read more about it here – Photo of the Week – June 7th

If we think of technology as tools to manipulate the environment, what came to mind is the female cicada’s thin round black ovipositor she uses to saw and drill into tree trunks to lay eggs. Here it’s already inserted into the tree (coming from her abdomen) – Copyright Anne Hornsby

The weekend photography challenge from last week was “Micro Tech” and members came up with their creative interpretation of the theme by capturing very interesting shots – some of them are shared below.

This week, we have a new challenge that has some very interesting submissions already. Join the challenge here – Human, Nature, Tech

Here are some “Micro Tech” photographs from the past week's challenge that we thought were great and should be included here:

Throwdowns:

Here are some throwdowns to follow and post your own photos, or you can start your own throwdown too.

  • Maps of Life – Started by Anne Hornsby – Aside from the best known use of “map,” – geographic area, maps also can be symbolic visual representations of a space or theme. Maps can track our experiences, memories, and movements.
  • RGB – Take a photo with all 3 primary colors as prominent features. Started by Robert Apple
  • Red – Started by Anne Hornsby
  • Abstract Flowers – Started by Rob Wood – Flowers and foliage shown in a unique or abstract way! Show us what you come up with!
  • LED Light Throwdown – Started by Pat Garrett – Does anyone use colored LEDs? Please post your images. I’d like to see how others use them.
  • Water and Stone – Essential Elements in the Make up of our Planet, post what you got! Started by Robert Apple
  • Negative Space Photos – Started by Retired Grunt – Negative Space is basically your subject surrounded by nothing but a single color or texture. All sky, all water, all sand, can be utilized strongly. The intent is to isolate the subject and keep the viewers focus on the subject.
  • Photographing Natures Textures – Started by Robert Apple – Pano, Macro, or anything in between. Only Rule, Nothing Man-Made, natures effect on man made objects is OK.
  • Wildlife Throwdown – Patrick started this throwdown as we have quite a few new members in the forum who are interested in wildlife photography. Please feel free to post anything wildlife , whatever you love your choice from tiny beast to to kings of the wild.

And, there are images posted in the Shark Tank forum where members request for constructive criticism/feedback on their photos.

If you'd like to join in with our members, feel free to join us on the forums.  We'd love to see you there, and we are a friendly bunch.
