So, without further commentary, here are the four options Tim Cook and company are bringing your way: iPhone 13 Pro Max, Pro, just a plain old regular model, and a Mini.

Needless to say, there’s probably an iPhone for every price point.

As to be expected, the iPhone 13 and Mini come with fewer bells and whistles than the somewhat 1990s named Pros and Pro Maxes. Even so, the 13 is shaping up to be a more than capable phone.

Both phones come equipped with Apple’s in-house A15 Bionic chip, two front-facing cameras, a 6.1-inch or 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display screen, and 128GB of storage. These models will be offered in five colors including (PRODUCT)RED, starlight, midnight, blue, and pink. Pricing starts at $USD 799 and preorders begin at 9 PM PDT on Thursday September 16 with product shipping out the following Friday on September 24 in 30 countries plus the major markets of Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Japan, the UK, the US according to Apple.

The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max has all of that and more with new ultra-wide and telephoto cameras and up to 1 TB storage capacity on top of a bunch new camera modes in iOS 15. Both feature Super Retina XDR display screens at 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes which oddly sees some overlap between the Pro and iPhone 13 regular edition.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak said of the Pro and Pro Max: “The new pro camera system offers even more pro photography capabilities like improved telephoto zoom, macro photography, Photographic Styles, Cinematic mode, as well as ProRes and Dolby Vision video. The Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion is our best display ever; it intelligently responds to the content on your screen, offers fantastic graphics performance, and is perfect for any viewing experience.”

Colors include graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue, and storage options amount to 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and all-new 1TB storage. Pricing starts at $USD 999 and $USD 1099 respectively with preorders opening on the 17th and phones shipping out the following 24th.

In addition to a bunch of new hardware and features, the iPhone 13 family will be powered by Apple’s latest iOS 15 which promises to not only improve photography and videography but also productivity and other smartphone tasks.

I’m calling this the bait-and-switch iPhone launch. I feel like all I heard before the announcement was higher refresh rate, 5G, and battery life for mobile gamers. There was a tiny bit in the announcement for gamers, but then it felt like it was all for film and Hollywood-style footage for home videos. Interesting! But also unexpected.
