TikTok is anything but boring, especially when it comes to turning up the heat for social media dominance.
Of course, all of that could be derailed somewhat if the app is banned in the United States. Even so, it’s full steam ahead for the rumor mill as reports suggest that Instagram’s biggest competitor is looking into launching its own photo-centric app. TechCrunch says that there are hints of this in the latest version of TikTok’s code, calling the platform “TikTok Photos.”
There’s also this description: “Whether you’re a world traveler, food blogger, or simply enjoy sharing what’s going on in your life, TikTok Photos is our all-new photo-sharing platform dedicated to helping creators like you reach other like-minded people.”
While we might not be Sherlock Holmes, it seems like a pretty solid indication of what’s coming down the road. That said, we’ll wait for official confirmation but it looks like we’re getting yet another option when it comes to posting photos on social media.
This comes on the heels of reports that Instagram’s latest sensation, its Twitter competitor Threads, is also getting more robust media features including the ability to post photos (which makes sense because Twitter also allows this capability). It’s a real blurring of the lines out there and who knows if the public will have enough energy to sustain all of it. Then again, given some of the AI tools coming down the road for editing and the outright creation of content, the tech might be keeping pace with the expansion of social media options.
