That’s why, When we saw this come scrolling across the screen, we knew we had to share it with you.

Money Shot, name aside, promises to help photographers figure out the best time to take a photo. Whether it is the Golden Hour or the location of the tide, Money Shot has a range of data that you can customize to make sure you get the right pictures at the exact right time.

Naturally, this is a location-based app and it isn’t the first of its kind. What does make Money Shot a somewhat unique proposition is the number of options it offers.

The way it works is quite novel in approach.

Simply snap a picture of the place you want to photograph under ideal conditions. Then set your presets in the Money Shot app.

When those conditions are achieved at that location, the app will notify you beforehand so you can prepare.

From the app’s download page:

Once you have added a location you can set a trigger to notify you based on:

  • Times (Golden hour, Sunrise, Night etc)
  • Weather (Clear Skies, Thunderstorms, Fog etc)
  • Moon Phase
  • Geo Magnetic Storms for Auroras
  • Meteor Showers
  • Milky Way Visibility
  • Tides

Each location also has an in-depth detail screen which shows:

  • Hourly Conditions for next 12hrs
  • Upcoming Times
  • Current Weather
  • Sun Elevation & Position
  • Moon Data
  • Tidal Data
  • Milkyway Data
  • Meteor Shower Data
  • Money Shot Calendar
  • Next Light Event
  • Photographers Ephemeris
  • Tidal Chart

Money shot also comes with a selection of pre defined notification triggers that include:

Currently only available for iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, Money Shot will likely make its way over to Android systems at some point in the future.
