Hasselblad is a Swedish company that manufactures medium format cameras, photographic equipment and other imaging products. It was established in 1841 as a trading company and the founder’s son who was interested in photography, started the photographic section of the company. Hasselblad was also the sole Swedish distributer of Eastman’s products in 1888. During World War II, Hasselblad also produced watch and clock parts in addition to military cameras.
The first successful commercial camera was the Hasselblad Universal camera which was the preferred camera of professional Scandinavian photographers. The first landmark design for the camera was the 500C and in 1962 NASA began using Hasselblad cameras on space flights.
Hasselblad now has a huge range of cameras and lenses and also collaborate with other companies like Sony. They also have deals with mobile phone and drone companies that feature Hasselblad cameras in their devices.
